July means it’s time to plunge into writing the second book in my Royle sisters trilogy, How to Engage an Earl (June, 2007, Avon). But, it’s summer, so that means I can make a little time to dive into some great books recommended by friends and family.
Two nonfiction books are in the top three of my To Be Read pile.
The Mighty and the Almighty: Reflections on America, God and World Affairs
by Madeleine Albright
Recently I was lucky enough to attend a reception and book signing in Washington, D.C. for Madeleine Albright. She and I both write for the same publisher, HarperCollins, but yes, I still stood in line with everyone else for a signed copy of The Mighty and The Almighty. Excellent read.
And now for something completely different…
Marley and Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog
by John Grogan
One of my daughters recommended this book…since it provides proof positive that our dogs are not really the world’s worst dogs.
On the Way to the Wedding
by Julia Quinn
Julia Quinn’s latest has finally hit the shelves! Okay, so it isn’t nonfiction. But it deserves the top spot in my TBR pile because it seems like I have been waiting forever for Gregory Bridgerton’s story! Still, while I can’t wait to read the book, I am going to savor this story like a fabulous piece of chocolate–because its the last bonbon in the box! Alas, Gregory’s story wraps up the Bridgerton series. I miss the Bridgertons already (but I can’t wait to see what Julia Quinn has coming up next.)
