Like her stirring debut, Claiming the Courtesan, her newest release is very sexy, and very, very emotional. Honestly, when I finished reading it I felt emotionally exhausted, but wishing too that there was more to read. It is the story of a young widow, Grace Paget, who wakes up from a drugged sleep only to find herself imprisoned and soon realizes that if she does not do as she’s told, and seduce Mathew, the Marquess of Sheene, she will die. The Marquess of Sheene is not the hero one might expect with a set up like this. He, too, is a prisoner, having been labeled mad by his uncle. This is where the story takes off in directions readers won’t expect, making this delicious romance a fresh and wickedly sexy departure from the usual.

Heat rating: sizzling. Pick it up as a gift for yourself for the holidays and skip putting the extra log on the fire. You won’t need it.

Elizabeth Hoyt is a natural storyteller with a true gift for witty dialogue. Woven throughout the story is fanciful tale of The Raven Prince, but believe me, with the steamy love scenes and crackling sexual tension, this is one fairytale you won’t want to miss!

July means it’s time to plunge into writing the second book in my Royle sisters trilogy, How to Engage an Earl (June, 2007, Avon). But, it’s summer, so that means I can make a little time to dive into some great books recommended by friends and family. Two nonfiction books are in the top three of my To Be Read pile.

The Mighty and the Almighty: Reflections on America, God and World Affairs
by Madeleine Albright

Recently I was lucky enough to attend a reception and book signing in Washington, D.C. for Madeleine Albright. She and I both write for the same publisher, HarperCollins, but yes, I still stood in line with everyone else for a signed copy of The Mighty and The Almighty. Excellent read.

And now for something completely different…

Marley and Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog
by John Grogan

One of my daughters recommended this book…since it provides proof positive that our dogs are not really the world’s worst dogs.

On the Way to the Wedding
by Julia Quinn

Julia Quinn’s latest has finally hit the shelves! Okay, so it isn’t nonfiction. But it deserves the top spot in my TBR pile because it seems like I have been waiting forever for Gregory Bridgerton’s story! Still, while I can’t wait to read the book, I am going to savor this story like a fabulous piece of chocolate–because its the last bonbon in the box! Alas, Gregory’s story wraps up the Bridgerton series. I miss the Bridgertons already (but I can’t wait to see what Julia Quinn has coming up next.)

No need to throw a log on the fire when you read a book as HOT as this one. And what fun! Lettie is a professional alibi consultant–meaning she supplies alibis for cheaters, liars and those in need of a cover story. Then one day a devastatingly handsome man from her past, a man who prizes honesty, becomes the recipient of one her alibis. Can she change her ways to win Bill Brannon’s heart? Don’t miss this one. This is Kelley St. John’s debut novel, but mark my words, this author is poised for stardom.
